My running

  • Apr. 20th, 2009 at 4:03 PM

I started running January 2008.  Good thing is was "The Happy Run", it motivated me to run some more as the mood was really happy!  The other runners were in a jolly mood and host/organizer Drew Arellano really set the mood of the run. Dogs allowed!  Some even came in costume.  My first 3k run with my son, M.  I was huffing and puffing chasing my son.  Where do kids get all their energy??  The Fort is a very good place to run!  I was surprised to see a lot of people go there in the morning to exercise!

My second run was, 3k in RunNew still at The Fort but this time in McKinley Hill.  As the name suggests.. Hill.  It was more difficult to run.  This time, it was my son who was huffing and puffing trying to keep up with me!  Ha!  I felt  the improvement  as hubby and I have been running every morning after dropping the kids off at school.  This motivated me even more.

Next is 3k in Condura Run, still at The Fort.  I was so impressed with the organizers!  Everything went perfect! My son still ran with me.. and maybe it wasn't such a good idea to bring him along, he just recovered from a fever... We walked halfway through the race.  Oh well...

Third is my first 5k in Pinay in Action, at Mall of Asia.  This was a tad disappointing.  After being so impressed with the previous run.. I was expecting so much.  But then, it was a girl power event, there were a lot of first timers.. Mothers, kids.. even lolas!!  From this, hubby and I decided that we should choose the runs we participate.  We should make sure the organizer is credible/known.  That's when we noticed Rio dela Cruz.  He has yet to disappoint us..

Airspeed, still at MOA.  I registered in the 3k run, thinking that my son will be joining me.  He told me "he'll rest muna".  So I ran the 3k ... I was pleasantly surprised with my time!  Wow!  I realized then that  running every morning with hubby-coach always pushing me actually works!!!

Just recenlty, Greenfield CIty Run in Sta. Rosa, my second 5k.. I was so so disappointed.   I was walking on the 3rd minute!  GOsh!  What happened?? Then I concluded it was because hubby and I were so excited that we entered the race area so early when we could have sat and relaxed a bit.  I ended up participating in the stretches for the 21k , and 10k  run.  And I was running the 5k .. of course I participated in it too!  Another thing was, my hubby was not with me to push me. Haha!  And I couldn't adjust the volume of my Ipod.  I know.. What was I doig the whole time waiting for my race to start? !

Next is Southern Race

amazing race at trinoma part 1

  • Nov. 6th, 2007 at 10:33 AM

My brother-in-law (BIL) and I teamed up to join the Amazing Race promotional event at Trinoma last 3 November.  Though registration was still at 3pm, we got there earlier to familiarize ourselves with the place.  It is my first time to visit the mall.  Gosh,   Trinoma is huge and a bit confusing.  The entire mall looks like a crab or spider.  Right in the middle is the activity center then branches out to sections.

Anyway, got there, registered had our briefing from the organizer.  If you're familiar,   the real Amazing Race had "legs", in our race we had "zones".  So each end of the zone (leg) had a pitstop.  Since we were 24 teams, five teams would be eliminated per pitsop.  The participants were a variety of male/female, all male, all female and even all gay!

The start of the race, one member of the team had to jump for the clue, like the "pabitin" during kiddie parties.  Since my partner and I we were both vertically challenged    we were among the last  to get the clue. Haha.  Solved the puzzle which directed us to Trinoma Park at the 4th floor.  We ran.. and ran... got to the top.  Since each task could only accommodate a limited number of teams, we had to wait.. First task, we both had to eat an ear of corn hanging.. without using our hands!!  My BIL, had a great idea. He had me bite the bottom part to hold it still so he could get a good grip and bite the corn!  I was biting on the corn and my view from below was his mouth.  I had to close my eyes or look somewhere else so I wouldn't laugh!!! I had a close-up view of his big mouth taking a bite of the corn.  HAhaha.  It paid off, we finished ahead of some of the teams who had started before us.   Got the marshall to stamp on our "passport" indicating that we had completed the  checkpoint.  And off to another task/checkpoint.  I think the next task was to complete one side of the rubik's cube.  The marshall would tell us what color to do.  My BIL grabbed the cube, I thought he knew how, apparently he didn't and we couldn't switch.  So I was instructing him how to do it, mind you, we were being timed.  Pressure.. pressure. We had one more color left.. and the team beside us saw that we were almost done (they got there before we did), I heard one of them say "Uy, patulong".  Sorry, it's a race...  Got another stamp and off to the next checkpoint.

The other tasks  included... hmm. Will continue in awhile.. Need to gather my thought first.  stay tuned.. Did we win? Were we eliminated?
